A literary superstar and challenger of taboos

In Nigeria, he has been described as a literary promise for the whole of Africa. Journalist and author Abubakar Ibrahim has covered the conflict with Boko Haram in several reports and has been awarded prizes for his portrayal of women’s fates as a result of this conflict. His sensitive depiction of female sexuality in fiction has also been awarded, nationally and internationally.

Through his breakthrough novel ”Season of Crimson Blossoms” he earned the title of ”literary provocateur”. In short story collections, newspaper columns and novels, he grapples with a variety of taboo subjects. Here he talks with Ingrid Elam, author, critic and former cultural director for Göteborgsposten and Dagens Nyheter.
